From battling with Iron Man, Black Panther, and even Thanos, Steve Rogers is a character who always stands up for what he believes in, both on screen and in the pages of the comic books. While die-hard fans won’t have a Marvel Cinematic Universe equivalent to Steve’s “no you move” speech from the pages of Captain America: Civil War, there are countless similarities between Evans’ portrayal of Rogers and his comic book counterpart.
While the MCU currently has Sam Wilson as a new Captain America, the character’s aversion to taking up the shield was partly due to fear of filling the shoes of the man who preceded him. Steve Rogers was everything the Avengers needed in a leader at the time. It serves as a beacon of hope, of the greater good, and of the future of what America might become.

The most glaring similarity between Chris Evans’ Cap and the comic iteration is his abilities. Steve’s origins and powers still stem from the same Super Soldier Serum, and he still started out as a scrawny kid from Brooklyn.
In every performance, Captain America can run well over 40 MPH, has super strength, and never loses the will to fight. MCU Steve’s training hasn’t been as well documented as it is in the comics, but his on-screen battles prove he can still take on Earth’s Mightiest Heroes (and Villains).

Even without the serum and the shield, Steve Rogers still fights for what he believes in. This unwavering desire to do the right thing is what makes Captain America the beacon of hope and justice that he is.
From the start, Steve didn’t want to sit idly by while others risked their lives. He believes that fighting the powers that be is the right thing to do. He fights to keep the Avengers together and even does what he can to keep the Young Avengers from putting themselves in harm’s way. Steve’s drive to fight for justice and what’s right is what made him the icon he is today, in both movies and comics.

Captain America is one of the most inspiring heroes in all of Marvel. Steve has something ordinary people see in themselves, but even with his leadership and determination, his ability to inspire hope in others is a skill he excels at.
When Steve tells his team members that they are capable of something, they believe him. Few of his famous speeches have been fully adapted for the screen, but their energy is reflected throughout the MCU, from the exposure of HYDRA agents in Captain America: The Winter Soldier at the meeting during Avengers: Endgame. Steve’s words give people the drive to keep fighting and the faith to know that good will prevail.

Existing in a world where allies and adversaries are stronger than him and have more technological advancements means that Steve often needs a tactical advantage if he is to win, and Cap always finds a way. When the chips are stacked against him, Steve Rogers will always be the one to face danger and injustice head-on.

To say that Steve Rogers makes questionable and risky choices in the MCU would be an understatement, but to outsiders, the hero has the same flaws in the comics. Whether it’s risking his life, fighting his own teammates to fight against tyranny, or taking the hardest path to save everyone he can, Steve tries to keep the big picture in mind.

Disney+ Falcon and the Winter Soldier follows Sam Wilson and Bucky Barnes in the wake of Avengers: Endgame and lose their brother in arms. Filling the role of Captain America isn’t something just anyone can do, and no one believes that more than Sam.
Sam realizes he is the right choice to carry on the legacy when he reflects on his time with Steve and why he received the shield. Sam was always an ideal candidate for the role, but having Steve pass the shield reassured him of his character and abilities, and gave him hope for the future of the nation.
4 His devotion to those he loves is unmatched.
Comic Cap will do just about anything to protect his team, and MCU Cap would do the same. But Steve’s unrelenting loyalty to Bucky Barnes and his love for Peggy Carter are the biggest debates among MCU fans.
The events of Captain America: Civil War are the direct result of Steve protecting his best friend from the crimes he committed during his tenure as the Winter Soldier. While this focus isn’t a dominant factor in the comics, his loyalty to his lifelong friends and chosen family members is still unwavering.

In a world with gods, super-powered high-tech suits, and people who embody the powers of the Infinity Stones, being a super soldier seems like rock bottom. Despite this, Rogers is the first and last in many fights he is involved in.
Cap uses his shield to protect those in need of protection, and no matter how powerful, his own well-being will always come after this undeniable truth. Steve fights to protect both versions of the Avengers, and even fights to protect the Young AvengersIn the comics.
2 Always there when there are sacrifices to be made
A constant across the multiverse is Steve’s willingness to sacrifice himself. Throughout Steve’s history in the MCU, his selflessness knows no bounds, as he risked his life to save the United States from a bombardment, fought Thanos head-on, and protected his team from it. which he believed to be an active grenade when no one else would have.
Steve never shied away from the possibility of putting his life in danger if it meant protecting others. In the 616 and the MCU, Steve willwhatever it takes to save as many people as possible, even if it means putting your own life on the line.
1 He is worthy
The roar that erupted from the crowd during Avengers: Endgame when Evans first used Mjolnir, it was the result of years of construction. Longtime comic book fans have known the Cap comic was able to hold the hammer ever since. Thor #390 in 1988.
Mjolnir is unlike most weapons because only those worthy of it are able to wield and use its powers. The rules of Mjolnir are never quite clear, but fans believe you have to be pure of heart, brave, and truly willing to risk your life for others in order to lift the hammer. These are all qualifications for which Steve clearly meets the quota.
