Former Pakistani skipper Shaheid Afridi has opened a Pandora’s box with his sensational remark on the rehabilitation of Shaheen Afridi. The ex-Pakistani skipper has openly explained how the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is not looking after star point guard Shaheen. Pacer Shaheen missed the entire edition of the 2022 Asian Cup after the Pakistani speed dealer failed to recover in time from a knee injury.
Although Shaheen was left out of the Continental Cup, the fast left-arm bowler was named to the preliminary squad by the PCB. Following Shaheen’s return to the 15-member squad for the upcoming ICC T20 World Cup, Afridi made a startling claim about the star point guard on a Pakistani TV channel. The ex-Pakistani captain has claimed that the PCB led by Ramiz Raja does not cover rehabilitation costs in the UK (UK).

Speaking in the aftermath of the rehabilitation fiasco, former Pakistani skipper Salman Butt also criticized the PCB for leaving premier bowler Shaheen stranded. Presenting his views during an interaction on his YouTube channel, Butt said the central contract covers the treatment of injured players.

“The board said they would reimburse treatment costs. Does a player’s medical costs not fall under the central contract? The central contract covers the treatment of players, even if it is a player Why are they talking about giving a refund? Why does the player have to spend money on his treatment? Isn’t the medical commission recommended by the board? Butt said.
Babar Azam-led Pakistan will miss the services of pacemaker Shaheen in the T20I seven-game series against England. Butt’s remarks came after the PCB released a statement providing an update on Shaheen and Fakhar Zaman’s injuries. PCB clarified that the Supreme Cricket Board of Pakistan has always made arrangements for the medical care and rehabilitation of all its players.
“You tour different countries throughout the year and you can’t even book a ticket for the player. Players shouldn’t be bothered by all that. If there was an emergency, you could probably ask the move forward, and you can repay the fee later. But in this case, the player was with you for three rounds, and you knew you had to send him for treatment. Even if you didn’t didn’t know, there should have been a backup plan,” Butt added.
