Bismah Maroof will lead Pakistan to the World Cup in his first international appearance after the birth of his daughter.

Bismah, 30, welcomed her baby girl in August 2021, having started maternity leave the previous December.

She last played for Pakistan at the T20 World Cup in Australia in February 2020, and her last one-day international outing was against England in Kuala Lumpur in December 2019.

Bismah will be supported at the World Cup by a PCB-appointed support worker, to help look after her child at the tournament in New Zealand.

The versatile – who has 216 selections for her country in all formats – will have the experienced Nida Dar as her assistant.

Pakistan’s World Cup squad, named by the PCB on Monday, does not include two players who were part of the World Cup qualifiers setup.

Kainat Imtiaz and Sadia Iqbal are out with injuries.

Among the most notable inclusions is Ghulam Fatima, the footer who last played for Pakistan in 2018.

The players are set for a warm-up camp in Karachi from January 27, before departing for New Zealand and a mandatory quarantine period on February 8.
