A bus captain’s quick thinking helped a four-year-old girl avoid a life-threatening situation after wandering in the middle of a busy road.
The incident happened on the afternoon of January 16.
Bus captain Ong Shi Chuin was driving the 400 bus service when he spotted the girl walking barefoot into oncoming traffic along Marina Boulevard.
Transport operator SBS Transit, on its Facebook post on Tuesday April 12, wrote that Ong and his bus were at traffic lights waiting for them to turn green when he spotted the girl.
She seemed oblivious to the potential danger, and Ong quickly rushed out of the bus to save her.

“When I stopped at a red light and saw the girl running down the five-lane highway, my only thought was that the girl was in danger,” Ong shared in the Facebook post. “I immediately rushed to carry her on my bus before the light turned green.”
The girl was playing at a nearby playground before wandering off and ending up on the road, 8world reported.
Her parents were in a panic looking for her, but luckily the family reunited soon after.
Ong was applauded for his actions, including by SBS Transit in the Facebook post.
“Shi Chuin’s quick thinking and action saved the day for the young girl and her family. What a hero he is! We are so proud of him,” SBS Transit wrote.
