Captain America: New World Order made headlines at Disney’s D23 Exhibit when it was revealed that Tim Blake Nelson would be reprising his role as The Incredible Hulk in the movie. However, that certainly wasn’t the last big and surprising casting news about a returning Marvel Cinematic Universe character for this film. After William Hurt’s death, the character of Thaddeus Ross was recast with Han Solo and Indiana Jones actor Harrison Ford taking the role. With Ford now ready to be the new “Thunderbolt” Ross with a Captain America 4 debut, Marvel fans can’t help but wonder if he’ll fulfill the destiny of the Red Hulk character portrayed in the comics.
Nate Moore, Black Panther: Wakanda Forever producer and vice president of production at Marvel Studios, spoke to ComicBook.com where he was asked to address the possibility of Ford portraying Red Hulk. “I mean, I think you’re going to have to wait and see,” Moore teased. “You know what I mean? But Harrison Ford, we couldn’t be more excited. Obviously when Han Solo or Indiana Jones are involved in your movie, it just ups the game. So we’re excited to see [Anthony] Mackie and Harrison Ford in scenes together. I think it’s going to be fantastic.”
Ford is no stranger to big blockbuster movies, especially with Disney. He recently reprized his role as Han Solo for two of star wars films in the franchise’s Sequel Trilogy and has a fifth IndianaJones movie on the way. Now, the iconic actor has a major role in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Moore previously appeared on ComicBook.com’s Marvel Phase Zero podcast, where he talked about Sam Wilson’s journey into the same Captain America film in which Ford will make his debut.
“I think he’s not Steve Rogers and I think that’s a good thing,” Moore said on the Phase zero podcast. “Because to me, this new Cap is Rocky. He’s going to be the underdog in any situation. He’s not a super soldier. He’s not a hundred years old. He doesn’t have the Avengers. What’s up with this guy who kind of publicly announces, without backing, ‘I’m the new Captain America.’ What happens next? I think it’s fascinating because he’s a guy. He’s a guy with wings and a shield, but he’s a guy. So we’ll put it to the ordeal and make him win, and see what happens when he’s outdone, outclassed, outdone by everything What makes someone Captain America I’ll say it’s not be a super soldier. And I think we’re going to prove it with Mackie and Sam Wilson.
Moore’s most recent project is the Black Panther after wakanda forever, which is set to hit theaters on November 11. Initial reaction to the final MCU Phase 4 film was overwhelmingly positive ahead of its release. Are you excited for Black Panther: Wakanda Forever and Captain America: New World Order?
