Captain America’s Shield Can Survive Superman’s Strongest Attack

Superman is one of the strongest characters in any comic book universe, but even he can’t break Captain America’s shield with his immense strength.

While Superman is easily one of the strongest characters in any comic book universe, even if he can’t break Captain Americathe shield. Due to his Kryptonian heritage, Superman has the power to harness the energy of Earth’s yellow sun and transfer it into god-like powers. The longer he is exposed to the Sun of Earth’s Solar System or any other similar system, the stronger Superman becomes, at one point even becoming so powerful that he shattered an entire dimension with a single punch. However, at his base strength, Superman is nowhere near strong enough to break Captain America’s shield.

VIDEO OF THE DAY

Captain America’s shield cannot be destroyed by brute force. The reason for this is that the shield is made of a unique vibranium alloy that gives it the ability to absorb any hit, no matter how hard it hits. Every time someone like the Hulk has tried to attack Captain America by trying to break through his shield, he’s failed, which means Superman doesn’t stand a chance.

Superman in his base form is only slightly stronger than Hulk, which has been proven in the comics Marvel vs. DC #3 by Ron Marz, Dan Jurgens and Claudio Castellini. In the issue, Superman and Hulk face off in a fight that ends with Superman knocking the Hulk out cold. After he managed to take down the Hulk, he said to himself: “He took everything I had and almost resisted him. Nothing now…” proving that Superman is stronger than Hulk, but barely. Throughout Marvel Comics, the Hulk has tried and failed to break Captain America’s shield but has never even come close, and since Superman is only slightly stronger than Hulk in his base form, he makes sense that Superman can’t break the shield either.

The only way to destroy Captain America’s shield is to use cosmic energy or manipulation of molecules that have only been shown a few times in Marvel Comics continuity. At one point, Cap’s shield was shattered by Thanos when the Mad Titan wielded the Infinity Gems during the Marvel Comics crossover event. Infinity Gauntlet. Another time the shield was broken was Molecule Man, proving that force isn’t enough to break the shield and only cosmic or molecular powers will do.

When Superman was powerful enough to shatter a dimension with a single punch, as shown in Justice League #25, he might have enough strength to break Captain America’s shield because, at that moment, Superman tapped into near-cosmic energy and thus could pull off the impossible feat. However, Superman with his normal powers from Earth’s sun rays is not much stronger than the Hulk and therefore cannot break Captain Americathe shield.
