Sheriff Troy Berry, along with Charles County Detention Center Director Brandon Foster, are pleased to announce that Captain Brian Gardiner recently graduated from the National Jail Leadership Command Academy (NJLCA). Capt. Gardiner completed the week-long program in August at the George J. Beto Criminal Justice Center at Sam Houston State University in Huntsville, Texas.
The NJLCA provides students with training for succession readiness and develops leadership skills for a successful transition to prison leadership positions. Topics covered include essential leadership, self-awareness, managing with data, internal agency culture, collaboration for prison leaders, managing generations in the workplace, developing the workforce management, organizational and personal leadership development, budget and strategic planning, and change management.
Captain Gardiner has been a Correctional Officer for over 24 years. During his career, Captain Gardiner has served in the areas of custodial and security, transportation, inmate services, facilities management, and as an operator on the response team. emergency (ERT). He was promoted to captain earlier this year.
