DARIEN — The Darien Police Department celebrated the retirement of Capt. Robert Shreders on Monday, as he prepares to leave the force after 32 years.
Shreders, appointed to the ministry on April 1, 1990, is due to retire on February 1, officials said on facebook.
Officials said Shreders “has served faithfully with honor and distinction in many aspects of our departmental operations,” including in the field and in administrative work.
“Captain Shreders; For your nearly 32 years of dedicated and honorable service to the men and women of the Darien Police Department and the town of Darien as a whole, we offer you our best wishes for a long, healthy and prosperous retirement. You have been a stellar role model for those who have come through the ranks of how to do this job with unquestioned integrity and a reasoned sense of fairness and dignity,” officials said. “Captain Shreders; well done and good luck.
