Dicksboro captain Aoife Prendergast has had a busy few weeks.

After being named captain of Kilkenny Senior Camogie, Aoife had to lead her club side into Leinster action this weekend against a strong St. Judes side. Over 1,000 people flocked to the town of Palmers to see the Kilkenny side continue their quest for Leinster glory. In the end, they emerged 0-10 to 0-08 winners, but it was not an easy victory. Speaking to Scoreline Prendergast said:

“Tough is probably an understatement. St. Judes are a fantastic team, we were lucky enough to cross the line. We dug deep and we all fought together, and it paid off in the end”

“We have a huge character in this dressing room, we are not individuals. We don’t have any standout players. We all fight together, we fight hard. If we worked as hard as they were going to work, our hurling will pay off.

Dicksboro started bright and entered the halftime break three points up. However, a lull in the third quarter allowed St. Judes to get back into the game. Captain Prendergast was asked by journalist Martin Quilty if the thought of losing occurred to him;

“No, it’s not. It doesn’t sound arrogant. I just have great faith in girls. I slipped away for a while, but I knew the girl next to me would set in. I had no doubts, a few scares but I knew we would fight until the end”.

It doesn’t get any easier for Dicksboro as Outlart The Ballagh in the Leinster final now waits in the wings. The Wexford side are reigning and reigning All-Ireland champions which will prove to be a tough test for Donall Carrolls’ side. According to Aoife, his side will be prepared;

“Outlart are a fantastic team. We’ve watched them over the past couple of weeks, a few have gone all the way to the All Ireland final. They’re a great team but we just have to take each game as it comes, we’re delighted to be here and we’ll take the opportunity.
