Captain America is one of the most beloved characters in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Does he survive the MCU?
When it comes to definitive live-action portrayals of superheroes, few have truly embodied their character the way Chris Evans has. The actor plays Steve Rogers with such a heart that it’s clear to see why Cap is considered the emotional heart and the moral compass of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
It’s no surprise that Captain America plays such an important role in the MCU. First appeared in Captain America: The First AvengerEvans goes on to appear in 11 films across the shared universe.

Is Captain America dead in the MCU?
Captain America does not die in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. At the very least, he doesn’t die on screen. The last time we see Cap is in Avengers: Endgame when, after the Avengers’ battle with Thanos, he returns to the past and lives a long, happy life with true love Peggy Carter.
He returns to the present as an old man (having apparently lived out his life in the alternate timeline he created) and gives Sam Wilson, aka The Falcon, his shield, setting the stage for his longtime friend to become the next Captain America. .
Although this is heavily involved in the Disney Plus series The Falcon and the Winter Soldier that Steve Rogers died, the likely explanation is that the public doesn’t know the truth about his trip to the past and that he simply returned to his timeline (or lived the rest of the years in the main MCU timeline in as an elderly man).
His fate remains uncertain, but we imagine that the death of such a major character would have been mentioned.
