  • Rishabh Pant played an explosive inning of 149 carries on just 111 balls
  • Former England captain Michael Vaughan also praised Pant for his entertaining shot
  • Vaughan, however, has been criticized for his conditional appreciation
Indian team wicketkeeper striker Rishabh Pant, who knows only one way to play in all formats, took out the long handle early in the rescheduled final Test against England and did not just not stopped. Pant made England pay by crushing their bowlers from all parts of the pitch and completing a special hundred with just 89 balls. After reaching his 5th Test century, Pant grew even more fearless scoring 46 carries on the last 21 balls before launching into an off-spin delivery from Joe Root.

Pant’s lightning rounds at a hit rate of over 131 guest reactions from all corners, not just India and England. For some England fans it was the thing they feared the most, ‘Pant using Bazball against them’ while Indian fans, who have seen Gabba, Ahmedabad and The Oval are aware of that phase where when he kicks in, it becomes unstoppable.

Former England captain Michael Vaughan also couldn’t help but tweet about it, saying: “Great viewing… @RishabhPant17 is doing a Jonny B…”

Fans, however, couldn’t help but notice that Bairstow only started playing like this under Bazball in the last three Tests against New Zealand, while Pant has done so since 2018. This is Pant’s 5th Test ton and whether it’s his rounds against Australia in Sydney and Brisbane last year or against the England in Ahmedabad, the 24-year-old has been battling like this in testing for quite some time and is more often than not successful.

Correcting Vaughan, many fans said it was not Bairstow but Pant who was doing what he was doing and the England batter might have pulled a leaf from his book.

Pant broke several records with his shot as he laid the platform for India setting a big first innings tally and with three wickets still remaining and a Ravindra Jadeja set in the middle, the visitors will be hoping to secure as many runs they can in the first session to increase the pressure on the hosts.
