  • Tare was no longer part of Mumbai’s white ball plans

Former Mumbai captain Aditya Tare completed his move from his home state to Uttarakhand on Monday August 29 ahead of the next domestic season. The Uttarakhand Cricket Association has signed Tare along with Jiwanjot Singh as the station’s newest players.

Swapnil Singh, meanwhile, has been tapped as one of their outside cast members, according to news agency PTI.

Tare, who was the last Mumbai captain to win the Ranji Trophy, was left out of Mumbai’s pre-season training camp. After being dropped from Mumbai’s white ball plans, Tare, who was part of the Mumbai Indians squad in the IPL 2022, was looking to get more playing time.

Tare, who has played 80 Premier League and 73 List A games, was part of Mumbai’s run to the Ranji Trophy final earlier in the year. His season was cut short due to injury in the quarter-finals.

“It’s hard to put into words how I feel about leaving Mumbai. From when I was around 16 when I got my first selection in Mumbai (Under 17) until today. Today at the ripe old age of 34, I had fun, played with absolute pride and lived my dream of being a Mumbai player,” Tare said in a statement.

“I’m not going to lie, the way things ended hurt a bit. But it’s time for new challenges, a new environment and I’m delighted with this new phase of my playing career with so many things to offer,” he said.

Tare is the third Mumbai player after Arjun Tendulkar and Siddesh Lad to seek new pastures in 2022.

Uttarakhand had done well to reach the Ranji Trophy quarter-finals the previous season. They have lost to mighty Mumbai in the last eight stages.

Jiwanjot, who played most of his cricket for Punjab, had played for Chhattisgarh in the 2021 season.

Uttarakhand had Jay Bista and Robin Bist as away players last season.
