Gameweek 14 means we’re just three rounds away from the tournament in Qatar and a break from the FPL season.
At least there wasn’t the quick turnaround we saw from the 12th to the 13th, but Champions League the action presented potential dilemmas with popular injury-carrying options.
This Gameweek may be different for that reason, and it could open it up for who scores the most points.

Who has the best Gameweek 14 matches?
Eight of this week’s ten matches are on Saturday – what a treat!
We’re in uncharted territory seeing five games kick off in the traditional 3 p.m. slot, with just two games remaining on Sunday.
Aston Villa may have started life after Steven Gerrard in perfect fashion with a Brentford Hammer 4-0but NEWCASTLE are a team definitely worth targeting right now.
Eddie Howe Side Beat Tottenham last time to break into the top four, and their attacking performance at home has been very strong.
They average 2.32 xG per game in front of their own fans, with a much lower 1.22 xGA.
Leicester may have wolves beaten 4-0 the last time but MANCHESTER CITY will be more than happy with their chances of success in Saturday’s early kick-off.
Brendan Rodgers’ side had just 0.89 xG for their four goals to Wolves’ 2.01. They shouldn’t be so lucky against the current champions.
Nottingham Forest beat Liverpool in Gameweek 13but a trip to ARSENAL should see them return to normal.
Fantasy football tips: What are the best transfers for Gameweek 14?
We’re just three sets away from the World Cup break – didn’t it happen quickly?
Your first Wildcard is only available until Gameweek 16, so, of course, use it if you want to do more than the free transfers allowance for a Gameweek.
It’s also worth remembering that any transfers made now can be changed in a few weeks, with only the cost of potential price changes to be paid.
This means that we can take a more short-term view of the selections knowing that the period of unlimited transfers is looming on the horizon.
Here are our fantasy football tips and picks for Gameweek 14 of the FPL season.
Harry Kane
- Position: YOUR
- Club: Tottenham
- Fixation: Bournemouth (A)
- FPL Price: £11.5m
We try to avoid the typical ‘heavy hitters’ when it comes to players to target, but I’m still surprised at Harry Kane’s low ownership percentage this season.
The Spurs forward is in 22.9 per cent of squads – and the cost alongside Erling Haaland will play a part in that – but he has delivered consistently.
Kane has posted offensive returns in ten of his 12 games this season (ten goals and one assist). That’s a total of 82 points for those who own it from the start.
Only Haaland (117) has scored more points than Kane, and he is a solid option if the The City striker misses this weekend through injury.
Xhaka Granite
- Position: ENVIRONMENT
- Club: Arsenal
- Fixation: Nottingham Forest (H)
- FPL Price: £5.1 million
I reported Granit Xhaka in a previous matchweek but the Arsenal midfielder is having a great season with three goals and three assists.
Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Martinelli are popular midfield options for the Gunners, but Xhaka represents great value at £5.1million if the budget doesn’t stretch for the others.
Xhaka found the net against Southamptonmaking him the 10th highest scoring midfielder on FPL this season – he is also priced lower than those around him.
His stats are also very high for the creativity of this Arsenal side as he averages 1.2 shots per game.
Bernardo Silva
- Position: ENVIRONMENT
- Club: Manchester City
- Fixation: Leicester (A)
- FPL Price: £6.9 million
Manchester City has confirmed its first place in its Champions League group midweek and they will be confident of victory on Saturday as they travel to Leicester.
Pep Guardiola’s side are looking to be the best before the world Cup break and know they have to win games like this if they want to do it.
Erling Haaland and Joao Cancelo could miss out through injury but Bernardo Silva’s form this season has gone somewhat unnoticed – with 91.0% of teams missing the midfielder.
He has scored two goals and provided six assists in the Premier League this season, with two assists in the 3-1 win against Brighton the last time.
Andreas Pereira
- Position: ENVIRONMENT
- Club: Fulham
- Fixation: Everton (M)
- FPL Price: £4.6 million
Andreas Pereira is a hugely popular figure given his points return for £4.6million – this is reflected in his 25.5% ownership rate.
We can expect that percentage to continue to rise with solid performances and the midfielder represents a brilliant value option that delivers while opening up a budget elsewhere.
Pereira scored one goal in addition to posting five assists – including two in the 3-2 away win at Leeds in Gameweek 13.
For some he will be the one to investigate during the World Cup break, given games against both Manchester clubs before, but he can continue to display attacking returns against this Everton side.
Who should I captain in Gameweek 14?
HAALAND can be hurt! Don’t panic, or maybe we should.
The City striker has been a captain’s comforter all season long. Set and forget; knowing it’s going to deliver in some form and not having to think twice about it.
Gameweek 14 changes that. My strategy will be to keep Haaland as captain if we don’t get another update but have a solid vice just in case.
If he is not in top form, you imagine that he will not participate in their contest in Leicester.
The other option in my mind is HARRY KANEwhich has been a consistent source of points throughout the season.
The explanation was given in his section above, but he would be confident to continue his form in front of goal as they travel to Bournemouth.
Alternatives include KEVIN DE BRUYNE who sees his percentage of possession increase over the weeks. One could predict that many get rid of MOHAMED SALAH for the City midfielder.
Salah should have chances against a Leeds side low in confidence and form. ROBERTO FIRMINO is also a name to keep in mind given a decent game on Saturday night.
FPL: Week 14 Captain’s Pick
Safer options:
- Erling Haaland, Kevin De Bruyne, Mohamed Salah
Alternate options:
- Roberto Firmino, Aleksandar Mitrovic, Son Heung-min
