Tom Carnduff delivers his fantasy football tips and advice for Gameweek 38 with transfers and captain’s picks discussed.

What are the best transfers to make for Gameweek 38?

While we usually discuss the best matches to start this column with, everyone playing at the same time on the same day means we’re going to miss it and jump right into transfers.

These lights, if you’re wondering, are…

Based on stats, form and fixtures, we’re picking three players to consider for Gameweek 38.

mason mount

  • Position: MIDDLE
  • FPL Price: £7.7 million
  • Sky price: £9.2m

Mason Mount was the unfortunate whose missed penalty decided the shootout in the FA Cup final, but a home game against Watford on the final day of the season will provide an opportunity to bounce back.

The attacking midfielder has scored 11 Premier League goals from 7.51 xG this season – adding ten more assists from 6.74 xA.

Gameweek 36 saw Mount score a whopping 13 points and that Watford defense will give them chances to hit a decent tally here.

Chelsea have very little to play for, but a home draw against a mediocre team should result in a comfortable win.

Son Heung-min

  • Position: MIDDLE
  • FPL Price: £11.1 million
  • Sky price: £10.8 million

Yes, it’s an expensive option in midfield, but Son Heung-min has the Golden Boot in sight. A trip to relegated Norwich on the final day is what he would have wanted in his quest for accolade.

Even though Burnley made them work hard for a victory in Gameweek 37, Spurs have racked up 2.31 xG which shows the quality of attack.

Son was denied twice by brilliant saves from Nick Pope and he should have had attacking returns. Repeated performance will surely bring a goal.

Keep an eye on Mohamed Salah’s form and availability. Transferring him may be the solution to finding the Tottenham striker’s budget.

Jarrod Bowen

  • Position: MIDDLE
  • FPL Price: £6.8 million
  • Sky price: £8.2 million

It’s been hard to ignore Jarrod Bowen this season, but he sits in 11.6% of FPL squads. A lot of people miss his points – he’s got a total of 24 points in his last two game weeks.

It falls firmly into the ‘affordable’ category for the most part at the £6.8m price tag. With West Ham having a trip to Brighton on the final day, the fact that they conceded 2.30 xG at Leeds shows they will have opportunities.

Bowen scored twice in the 2-2 draw with City. He also could have easily scored a hat-trick with chances late in the game.

This form throughout the season led to calls for involvement in the England World Cup squad. Bowen can end the season strong on the South Coast.

Who is the best Gameweek 38 captain?

Spurs know they need the win if they are to secure a place in the top four and a trip to Norwich means Tottenham’s assets should be targeted in the final week.

HARRY KANE and SON HEUNG-MIN jump as obvious candidates. They’ve both been in fine form in front of goal and there’s a good chance they’ll help each other out.

After all, Norwich are bottom of the league and relegated – conceding 78 goals out of 77.0 xGA. These two are the highest in the league.

Alternatives of this game include DEJAN KULUSEVSKI, who did not start against Burnley due to illness. He should return to the starting XI here.

Elsewhere, City’s involvement in the title chase means KEVIN DE BRUYNE is a solid candidate even though he didn’t return any attacking points against West Ham.

JOAO CANCELO should also be considered in defense as he poses a big threat going forward. GABRIEL JESUS is a brave option that can also pay off.

Those looking for brave options that can pay off should consider JARRO BOWEN as mentioned above, while MASON SUPPORT could start against Watford.
