Harmanpreet Kaur will be India’s World Cup vice-captain: Mithali Raj

Indian skipper Mithali Raj confirmed on Saturday that Harmanpreet Kaur will be her assistant at the upcoming 50+ Women’s World Cup.

In the last two ODIs against New Zealand, Deepti Sharma donned the vice-captain cap. Harmanpreet did not play the fourth ODI, while she made a comeback in the last ODI, Deepti remained vice-captain.

“Deepti was chosen as the vice-captain of the last two ODIs, it was the choice of the selectors and the BCCI. Harmanpreet is the vice-captain of the World Cup,” Mithali told a virtual press conference .

The Women’s World Cup will be played in New Zealand from March 4 to April 3. India will play their first match of the tournament on March 6 against Pakistan.

Drawing on her vast World Cup experience, the India captain has also imparted her wisdom to those ready to make their debut.

“The only advice I would give young players is to enjoy the big stage because if you build up the pressure you may not play the best the team and you want to do in the World Cup,” he said. -she adds.
