CDG is looking for a caring, dedicated and talented work captain with 3 to 5 years of experience in supervised production in the office work in our Century City office. Initially, your objective will be the complete renovation of an office building, including the interiors, in which we introduce courtyards with custom-designed facades to filter and extend the incoming daylight. The project is now entering DD, with drawings to be completed in the spring. You’ll also participate in our other projects, which range from private residences, shelters, commercial tenant improvements, multi-family projects, movie studios and many more. This is a salaried position with benefits. Pay is commensurate with experience and should start at $30-$36/hr, with a 6 week check-in to recalibrate. Please indicate your requested salary in your response. Local applicants only please, and non-domestic applicants must have a US Work ID/Permit, valid for at least 1 year from date of hire.

This is a position with unlimited growth potential in a unique practice with over three decades of excellence, but also the excitement of a young, small and ambitious company. You will work directly with the owner and manager. We also welcome applicants with more relevant experience, including Chartered Architects.

As the successful candidate, you will demonstrate experience in creating permit and construction drawing sets, creativity, a dedication to excellence, and pride in your work.

Our assumption will be that you are capable until you prove otherwise, and we will accompany you to grow and develop from there. You will contribute significantly to the production, coordination and management of projects, from design to construction. Be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment and demonstrate strong abilities/interests in the following areas:

  • Production of construction documents, including experience with building envelope details.
  • Excellent design and graphic sensibility.
  • Ability to perform building code analysis and working knowledge of accessibility requirements.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Belief in the value of office drafting standards, best practices, attentive listening, and neat, clean drawings.
  • Effective use of x references in autocad.
  • Familiarity with VR/AR and digital manufacturing
  • Proficiency in current software, with production experience in AutoCAD, Revit, Sketchup, Enscape, Bluebeam and Adobe CS.

Not mandatory, but a plus:

  • Interest and experience with interior design and finishes.
  • Material and product specifications.
  • Experience creating red lines.
  • Expertise in Rhino, Grasshopper and parametric modeling.
  • Excellence in hand drawing and rendering abilities.
  • Completion of IDP Hours and Continuation of Licensing
  • Architecture license (more responsibility and remuneration)

The desired start date is before the end of August.
