We exclusively represent a boutique architectural firm specializing in single-family and luxury residential work in the New York metropolitan area. They are currently looking for their next great Job Captain to lead and contribute to existing and future residencies.
The main function of the Job Captain/Architectural Designer is to support the project team in the realization of one or more multi-family/mixed-use projects in accordance with the established objectives and the scope of each project. This role collaborates with all team members effectively and efficiently, working under the direction and in collaboration with project team members.
Core Duties and Responsibilities
• Assist PMs through all phases of a project, from proposal to delivery
• Help plan, draw and design for project completion
• Prepare project documents for meetings, presentations and submissions
• Incorporate red lines strategically and thoroughly
• Understand and follow company standards for project documentation
• Model and draw accurately based on project scope and phase
• Produce renderings, illustrations and construction documents to support design concepts
• Review project proposals and specifications
• Help lead junior architects and designers
• Help coordinate the details of architectural projects
Professional knowledge and experience
• Experience in residential design is preferred, experience in high-rise buildings is a plus
• Able to supervise own work with some supervision
• General understanding of codes and zoning
• Zoning experience an asset but not required
• General knowledge of building details and construction process
• Experience in major markets: high-end residential, multi-family, mixed-use, new construction
• Experience of being part of a collaborative and integrated team structure for all phases of work
• Complete assigned tasks on time
Technological expertise
• Revit production capability, model manager a plus
• Working knowledge of multi-family housing and other building types
• Experience with conceptual and schematic design process for basic project types
• Experience in producing Design Communication packages for core project types
• Ability to detail the exterior (façade) and interior (carpentry)
• Ability to think in 3D and understand and solve complex design problems
• Work towards licensing
Terms
• 3-6 years of work experience in architecture
• Bachelor’s (required), Master’s (preferred)
• Experience in high-end residential and commercial projects (an asset)
• Demonstrated proficiency with Revit, CAD, SketchUp and Windows OS
• Authorization to work in the United States
The client offers a very attractive benefits package, base salary in the range of $80-100,000, DOE with bonus potential. This position will work within the office 5 days a week.
