Manchester United captain Harry Maguire hands the shirt to a young Old Trafford fan as he gives back to supporters who chanted his name after England boos

Manchester United captain Harry Maguire handed his shirt to a young fan after their 1-1 draw with Leicester as Old Trafford ducked behind their centre-back under fire.

Maguire has had a tough few months with poor domestic form for the Red Devils.

Strangely, Maguire, who has been excellent for England despite his troubles at Old Trafford, was booed at Wembley Stadium midweek.

Set to face Ivory Coast, his name was mocked by some Three Lions fans, but he barely stumbled in a 3-0 win under coach Gareth Southgate.

He was widely supported by his teammates, including Harry Kane, Jordan Henderson and Declan Rice, after the game.

And there were perhaps fears about his state of mind ahead of Manchester United’s clash with Leicester.

The Red Devils stumbled to a 1-1 draw in another boring display after being stripped of Cristiano Ronaldo through illness.

Maguire, however, put on a fine display and received full backing from the home fans who backed him up with cheers and songs.

Manager Ralf Rangnick was delighted with both the club’s fans and Maguire.

He told Sky Sports: “The reaction from our supporters has been as always. Our supporters are some of the best, if not the best, in England. And Harry played well, he had an almost faultless game today. Defensively and offensively, a good solid performance from him.

And after the match, Maguire showed his thanks by presenting his match jersey to a young fan.

The boy, in his father’s arms, looked delighted with Maguire’s good deed.

It was a great moment after a great Maguire game and hopefully we’ll see the same as the season progresses.
