MANSFIELD—Captain Shari Robertson has announced her retirement from the Mansfield Police Division. His last day with the Division will be July 7, 2022.
Captain Robertson began her law enforcement career with the Police Division on August 24, 1994 and was promoted to Sergeant on February 14, 2005. She was promoted to Captain on April 3, 2014. She Has been assigned to many areas within the Division including Patrol Section, Community Policing, Traffic Section and Office of Professional Standards/Training Section. Since April 2014, she has been the Commanding Officer of the Special Operations Bureau, which includes the Detectives Section/Major Crimes Unit, Forensic Science Section, Neighborhood Impact Section, and Office of Professional Standards/Forensics Section. training.
During his career, Capt. Robertson has served in a variety of positions within the division, including recruiting officer, public information officer, intelligence liaison officer, OPOTA certified firearms instructor, training officer on field and field training supervisor. For the past 8 years, she has served as the Accreditation Manager for the Division’s Law Enforcement Agency Accreditation Commission (GALEA) as well as the Ohio Collaborative Community Policing Advisory Council. , the state version of GALEA. She has been a grant writer/manager for the division since 2008 and has accumulated approximately $11 million in successful local, state and federal grants for the division during that time.
Captain Robertson received a Bachelor of Business Administration in 2004 from Mount Vernon Nazarene University and graduated from the Police Executive Leadership College in 2012. She is an OPOTA Certified Training Instructor, Ohio Lifetime Certified Crime Prevention Specialist Crime Prevention Association (OCPA). She served as OCPA District Representative, OCPA Secretary, and was elected President of the Ohio Crime Prevention Association in 2007. She has co-chaired numerous OCPA state training conferences and co-authored OCPA’s 2012 Advanced Crime Prevention Specialist Training Manual and Curriculum.
Captain Robertson has received numerous division awards over the years, including Letters of Recognition, Special Mentions and a Legion of Merit. She was named the Division’s “2013 Co-Supervisor of the Year” and in 2015 received the OCPA’s “Michael Blankenship Service Award” for her outstanding crime prevention initiatives and commitment to scale. of the state towards crime prevention and community policing. In 2019, she received the Domestic Violence Shelter Advocacy Service Award for her initiatives to better serve victims of domestic violence. She continues to serve the community as a member of a few nonprofit boards. Her retirement represents a loss for the Police Division and she has our congratulations as we wish her success and happiness in the future.
