Middlesbrough and West Bromwich Albion have been linked with a summer transfer window move for Blackburn Rovers defender Darragh Lenihan.
The 28-year-old Irishman came through the ranks of the Rovers youth team and played over 250 times for the Ewood Park side. He made his debut for the club in 2015.
He spent part of the 2014/15 season away from Rovers at Burton Albion in League Two. There he played 17 times and scored once before being called up.

Lenihan is Blackburn’s skipper and has scored three goals in 43 appearances this season in all competitions. He is out of contract this summer as things stand.
Rovers have yet to release their shortlist, but have already confirmed that Bradley Johnson and Joe Rothwell will depart this summer. An option has been activated in Ben Brereton-Diaz’s contract which will keep him at Rovers for a further 12 months.
Speculation is growing over Lenihan’s future, however, and Championship rivals Rovers have been linked with a move for him. An experienced Championship defender like Lenihan on a free transfer would prove an attractive proposition.
And according to football journalist Alan Nixon, Middlesbrough and West Brom are interested in landing Lenihan. It is reported that Boro boss Chris Wilder wants the Irishman and he could be tempted by an annual salary of around £1million.
West Brom have also been credited with an interest in Lenihan. The Baggies finished the season in 10th place, while Boro finished seventh and ahead of Rovers in the table, but five points out of the play-offs.
