The dispute between Indian cricketing legend MS Dhoni and the Amrapali group has once again hit the headlines, and this time the sword hangs around the neck of the former Indian captain. The dispute between MS Dhoni and Amrapali Group has been going on for many years over the huge amount transaction, due to which the Supreme Court sent notice to the legendary cricketer.
In fact, Mahendra Singh Dhoni is caught up in this Amrapali Group controversy because he was the brand ambassador of this property developer. The former captain was the Amrapali Group’s brand ambassador for six to seven years, and during that time he shot several commercials for the property developer.
MS Dhoni’s name surfaced on social media in 2016, when aggrieved residents of the Amrapali project tagged the former captain on social media, asking him to part ways with the Amrapali group or complete pending projects. After this case, Dhoni resigned as the brand ambassador of Amrapali Group, but the outcome did not go well for him as he was not paid his fees.
In 2018, Dhoni sued the Amrapali Group for dues. This lawsuit was filed by Riti Sports Management on behalf of Dhoni first in the Delhi High Court and later in the Supreme Court. Riti Sports claimed that Amrapali Group failed to pay Dhoni around Rs 150 crore which should have been paid to the former captain for his services as brand ambassador.
The Delhi High Court had set up a committee to settle the pending transaction between Dhoni and Amrapali Group, before whom the veteran captain had claimed his due fees. After that, the Amrapali group reported the lack of money to them and the case was taken to the Supreme Court.
During the Supreme Court hearing, the clients accused the Amrapali Group of not having received their apartments. The property developer criticized them for lack of funds saying that if they pay their fees to MS Dhoni then they will not be able to give people their apartments.
Now, the Supreme Court has sent notices to MS Dhoni and the Amrapali Group in this regard, and asked them to present their position. If the verdict is in favor of Dhoni, then Amrapali Group will have to pay its Rs 150 crore, which will make it difficult for customers to get apartments.
