Most expensive Shreyas Iyer? It’s clear that Iyer will be the most wanted player at the IPL auction. After being let go by Delhi Capitals in favor of Rishabh Pant, Iyer was expected to be snapped up by new franchises Lucknow & Ahmedabad.
Sources for both new teams have told InsideSport that Iyer is not on their roster. Lucknow has focused on KL Rahul as captain while Hardik Pandya is likely to lead Ahmedabad.
This clearly means that Iyer will now be part of the IPL Auction & RCB, KKR, PBKS will definitely be vying for the mid-order Indian bat.
“Iyer is poised to be the hottest property in this IPL auction. Several franchises see him as the leader of their team. His performance and leadership qualities will make them bid big for Iyer,” said a source closely following IPL Auctions.
InsideSport also contacted interested franchises but received no response from them.
“We do not discuss our strategy in public. You will have to wait for the IPL auctions”, said a player scout involved with RCB.
