Captain RCB IPL 2022: Why does Faf du Plessis seem the ideal choice for the captaincy of the RCB?
- Faf is the only option after Virat Kohli with experience as a captain in international cricket.
- A prolific opener in form, Faf du Plessis will be one of the first on the scoresheet.
- Having retired from international cricket, he will also be available for the duration of IPL 2022.
- The other option was Glenn Maxwell who was considered initially but he will be unavailable for the first few matches. The Australian will only be available from March 12 after serving a five-day quarantine following the Pakistan tour.
- Dinesh Karthik was the other option, especially due to his entries behind the stumps. But under his guidance, KKR struggled and he quit midway through the season in IPL 2020.
