Captain America’s Iconic MCU Line, Explained
The line draws its inspiration closely from the Captain America played by actor Chris Evans between Captain America: The First Avenger (2011) and Avengers: Endgame (2019). One of the first scenes featuring Evans’ Steve Rogers is the character (pre-Super Soldier Serum) getting beaten up in an alley, telling his bully with both fists raised, “I can do this all day. ” After that, the line became a catchphrase for the hero, who would repeat it to Red Skull, Iron Man, and even a variant of himself throughout his time in the MCU.
Rogers’ catchphrase is also known to the world within the MCU. The Hawk Eye The Disney+ series introduced fans Rogers: The Musical, an in-universe Broadway show that features the line “I can do this all day” during the chorus of the “Save The City” number written by Marc Shaian and Scott Wittman. The performance is based on the Battle of New York from the first avengers film released in 2012, showing how the general public perceives the event and its heroes.
