Warning! This post contains a PREVIEW for Captain America: Symbol of Truth #5In a new preview from Marvel Comics Captain America: Symbol of Truth, Sam Wilson truly becomes Captain America with one line, inheriting an important mindset from Steve Rogers that’s just as important as wielding a shield. Arrived illegally in the nation of Wakanda, Sam Wilson attempts to uncover the background of a criminal network that smuggles vibranium. However, this new preview reveals that he was caught by none other than King T’Challa’s Black Panther.
In previous issues of Captain America: Symbol of Truth by Tochi Onyebuchi, RB Silva and Julian Shaw, the Falcon by Sam Wilson and Joaquin Torres uncovered a smuggling ring that appears to be dealing in vibranium. After tracking the Source to Wakanda itself, the new Captain America attempted to work with the Wakandan government to find and apprehend the culprits. However, Wilson’s request was denied in the name of the nation’s sovereignty. In response, Sam decided to hide among the many American citizens seeking to move to Wakanda on brand new visas.
Although Sam Wilson’s Cap now knows that Crossbones and the White Wolf are responsible for the smuggling ring and are planning a massive vibranium-fueled attack to undermine both Wakanda and the United States, Black Panther is not very happy with the situation. intrusion of Captain America into his nation. Thus, the new overview of Captain America: Symbol of Truth #5 sees Sam and T’Challa face off in a brutal brawl. However, Wilson refuses to stand back, reiterating the MCU’s most famous Captain America line that has since made its way to the comics: “I can do this all day.” Here are the preview pages and synopsis for the next issue:
- CAPTAIN AMERICA: SYMBOL OF TRUTH #5
- HOMELAND, PART 5
- It’s a showdown between Captain America and Black Panther, with the fate of two countries at stake! And when the dust settles, who will pay the price for Sam Wilson’s foray into Wakanda? Meanwhile, Falcon uncovers a piece of evidence that changes the scope of the mission and exposes the white wolf’s ultimate motive.
While it’s pretty cool that Sam Wilson took the classic Captain America line and made it his own, it’s also worth noting that his critique of the Black Panther suit and vibranium technology also bears a striking resemblance to Steve Rogers calling Tony Stark’s armor in the premiere avengers film: “Tall man in costume armor. Take that off, what are you?”. While T’Challa has his rebuttal just like Tony did, Sam still has the advantage as he was able to defend himself while wearing only a singlet and jeans.
In any case, it will be very exciting to see how Captain America and Black Panther’s last stand will finally play out. It is hoped that Sam will be able to bring T’Challa to reason and enlist his help in defeating their common enemies, even though he entered Wakanda illegally. Either way, the full Captain America: Symbol of Truth #5 will be released on September 28.
