Time is running out to get your entries into FanTeam’s Second Chance Free Mid-Season Fantasy Game, which offers a £100,000 prize pool even though entry doesn’t cost a dime!

We enlisted the services of FanTeam expert Linn, who reveals her own team plans ahead of Friday’s deadline.

It’s funny how things turn out, isn’t it? Not too long ago triple defending Chelsea and no Harry Kane was the way to go and here I am, mid-season, getting Kane and even managing him for the first time, without having a single Chelsea player in my squad despite their Double Week of Play. I’m going 3-5-2 because if I can get 90 minutes from midfielders and forwards, that means seven extra points every week! This strategy will also work with a 3-4-3 formation.

I present to you my team:

GOALIE

Jose Sa

I think this one is really a no-brainer. Wolves have proven – even against tougher opponents – that they can be trusted to keep a clean sheet. And Sá was exceptional! A very tasty price too. Jose is a set and forget in my team for the rest of the season.

DEFENDERS

Trent Alexandre-Arnold

He’s always the first one I choose in any team or draft I do. He has been exceptional this season and has a very good offensive threat as well as good clean sheet ratings. Is it too expensive though? I do not think so. He averages around 6.2 points per game and only two similarly priced midfielders match that – Jarrod Bowen and Bernardo Silva.

Aymeric Laporte

Why Laporte rather than Joao Cancelo? Have I gone mad? I hope not! Laporte and Cancelo actually don’t differ much when it comes to points per game (5.65 vs. 5.11) because at FanTeam players don’t get bonus points, giving these two a similar fantasy outing. – and since I would have to pay 0.8 I’m more to go with Cancelo, I hope I can use that extra money to upgrade somewhere else.

Lucas Digne

It was an exciting transfer in January, wasn’t it? It might be a bit early for him to step straight into Aston Villa’s starting XI, but if he doesn’t start, the Safety Net feature will give me Villa’s best in-form starting defender. since Digne is the most expensive. Getting a Villa defender against Manchester United might not be the optimal plan, but I’m thinking long term and not just a match week.

MIDFIELDS

Phil Foden

Foden might not play this week, he might even be benched in other weeks, but thanks to the safety net I can finally get a Manchester City midfielder in my squad and not waste any time whether he will start or not! Phil is attractively priced meaning Jack Grealish, Ilkay Gundogan and Bernardo Silva can all come in and cover if Foden doesn’t start. And when he starts, I definitely want him on my team! He will be a catch all season for me.

James Madison

Mado! I love this guy and I’m so excited I can own him now. He’s been brilliant for Leicester City lately and is set to have a Double Gameweek 22. He looks to be back to his old scoring shoes and we all know he has a great eye for the game and can get a back or two even in the toughest matches. .

Diogo Jota

My favorite Liverpool player this season so of course I’m putting him in my team – especially with Mohamed Salah at AFCON. Sadio Mane is also out and Roberto Firmino is likely to take center stage, with Jota on the wing – a position he thrives in and usually gets more returns than when playing in the middle.

Jarrod Bowen

The most successful midfielder at its price. He’s been sensational for West Ham this season and while his expected goals tally (xG) might not be mind-blowing, he continues to put up excellent performances and be on the scoresheet. And a backstop of Said Benrahma, Manuel Lanzini, Pablo Fornals and Tomas Soucek isn’t too shabby.

Ademola Lookman

With Second Chances starting in a Double Gameweek, I wanted to treat myself to a fun punt and it’s Ademola Lookman. With their main forwards absent or absent at AFCON, Lookman had to step up and fill his boots. He has shown excellent form and, as long as he has the minutes under his belt, he could be a very interesting differential. However, my long-term plan is to switch him to Philippe Coutinho (6.5m).

FORWARDERS

king joshua

Picking a Watford striker when they face Newcastle United and Burnley in a Double Gameweek must be the most logical thing to do. But why King and not Emmanuel Dennis? I have two reasons for this; the first is that midfielders and forwards get an extra point for playing the full 90 minutes – King usually does and Dennis doesn’t. Second, he’s on penalties, and when in doubt, always aim for the pen guy!

Harry Kane

This is a first for me this season. But with Son Heung-min out and Antonio Conte starting to get the team to play the way he wants, that has to be a good move, right? Kane has been consistent in the last four games and scored in three of them. That’s enough for me to trust him over Cristiano Ronaldo, who is currently nursing a hip injury and playing for a Man United side that seems incapable of gelling. Kane is my replacement for Salah and will be downgraded to someone like Danny Ings or Michail Antonio in a few Gameweeks.

My key tips for the FanTeam Second Chance game are:

  • Keep an eye on the safety net and use it to your advantage
  • Don’t blindly fixate on the current Double Gameweek
  • Spread the risk of games being postponed by choosing players from a variety of teams
  • Save as many transfers as you can (they roll weekly)
  • Make sure you have an easy way to get Salah in when he returns
