Selected to attend law school through the U.S. Army Funded Legal Education Program

SERVICE STORIES – Timothy Wieckowski, a native of Merritt Island, was promoted to the rank of captain in the United States Army and was also accepted into the military-funded legal education program, which selects 25 soldiers per year to attend law School.

After graduating from law school, he went on to serve as a member of the Judge Advocate General (JAG) corps of the United States Army.

Wieckowski graduated from Merritt Island High School where he joined the JROTC program in 2009 during his first year.

“I stayed in the program throughout my high school years,” said Captain Wieckowski.

“I never really considered joining the military during this time, I just enjoyed being in the ability of the program to test leadership abilities so early on.”

Under the mentorship and guidance of Merritt Island High JROTC Senior Army Instructor, retired U.S. Army Lt. Col. Scott Wagoner, he applied for an ROTC fellowship during his senior year and was awarded a three years for tuition at New York University, Duke University and Wake Forest University.

“Despite my doubts about joining the military, Lieutenant-Colonel Wagoner allowed me to believe in my potential to be successful as an army officer, and I decided to accept the scholarship for attend Wake Forest University, ”said Captain Wieckowski.

After four years of ROTC college, he graduated from Wake Forest summa cum laude in 2017 with a bachelor’s degree in history and a minor in German.

On November 11, 2017, Wieckowski was commissioned into the United States Army as a second lieutenant and evaluated in the Corps of Signals.

Wieckowski then began the Chief Basic Signals Officer course in January 2018 and, upon graduation, moved to Fort Huachuca, Ariz., Where he served with the 40th Expeditionary Signal Battalion.

While at Fort Huachuca, Wieckowski served as platoon leader, executive officer, and deputy battalion operations officer, and on July 8, 2019, he was promoted to the rank of first lieutenant.

Wieckowski was then deployed overseas twice, a nine-month tour of Poland in 2019 and a month-long exercise in Guam in 2021. He then moved to Fort Gordon, Georgia in November 2021 to follow. the career course of the captain of signals and was promoted to the rank of captain. January 1, 2022.
