The She-Hulk Episode 1 post-credits scene finally settled one of the biggest questions that has haunted Marvel Cinematic Universe forums for the past decade: Was Captain America a virgin?
The surprising topic of conversation was first brought up earlier in the episode when Jennifer Walters (Tatiana Maslany) catches up with her cousin, Bruce Banner (Mark Ruffalo), on a drive through the countryside.
“My theory: Steve Rogers didn’t have a girlfriend before he joined the service,” she begins. “He becomes Captain America and from that moment, symbol of America, he is rushed to the front lines, he becomes a war hero – then he is frozen in ice.”
Jen continues: “So from everything you’ve told me, after being unfrozen it goes from global disaster to global disaster – that’s when it’s not a fugitive from the law, isn’t he?
“So it looks like he was pretty, pretty busy… Obviously Captain America was a virgin,” she concludes, before a mysterious spaceship knocks her off course in a serious accident.
The scene has a meta quality to it, as many MCU fans have been making the same observation about Cap’s love life (or lack thereof) on social media, but now we have canon confirmation on his exact whereabouts.
Is this one of our business? Certainly not, but nevertheless, let’s answer this important question.
End credits of She-Hulk: Was Captain America a virgin?
The post-credits scene at the end of Episode 1 of She-Hulk takes us back to Bruce Banner’s lab in Mexico, where Jennifer Walters laments her Cape theory while having drinks with her cousin.
“That ass didn’t deserve to die a virgin,” she says through tears, sounding very drunk, and referencing Cap’s complimentary nickname “America’s Ass” from Avengers: Endgame.
Increasingly worn down by Jen’s fixation on the matter, Bruce reluctantly reveals, “Cap lost his virginity to a girl in 1943 on the USO tour.”
At this point, Jen drops the facade, revealing that she wasn’t actually drunk at all and was just pretending to get the information she so desperately needed to know.
She-Hulk End Credits Scene: The First Avenger Reference Explained
The USO Tour was depicted in 2011’s Captain America: The First Avenger as when Steve Rogers performed patriotic skits and delivered motivational speeches to crowds of troops across the front lines.
While his act proved popular with civilians back home, it drew a decidedly more frosty reception from the soldiers themselves, who did not respect Cap for staying so far from the action despite his strength. superhuman.
Their hostile reaction was one of the factors that caused him to finally take matters into his own hands, using his abilities to save his childhood friend Bucky Barnes, who had been captured by the Nazis and the associated group HYDRA.
Now we know that the release of Bucky and many other soldiers from this mission wasn’t the only good thing that happened as a result of the tour.
Speaking about She-Hulk’s key role in shaping Captain America lore, showrunner Jessica Gao said RadioTimes.com“I think that’s my crowning achievement as a writer. I mean, I can rest easy if that’s my legacy. I’m very satisfied.”
