Indian Team A: Shubman Gill, Captain: Shubman Gill has been making all the right noises with the bat, scoring some big runs in the national colors lately. And a likely promotion is heading for the star Indian batsman who is set to lead India A against New Zealand A next month in the four-game, one-day series. A Times of India report suggests that the likes of Shardul Thakur, Washington Sundar, Mohammed Siraj among others should be named to the team by BCCI. The visitors will play all their four-day matches in Bengaluru while Chennai will host them for the one-day competitions. In total, there will be a total of three matches in Bengaluru and three in Chennai.
This also signals the resumption of matches for India A, which has halted due to Covid. India has been one of the best cricketing nations to use these India A matches to prepare players for senior teams.
Most of the current members of the Indian team came through the ranks of the Indian A teams. It was from such series that India produced strong bench strength and helps field different strong teams in the tours.
The series could also potentially be used by Washington Sundar to test his fitness skills. The player is currently injured and the series could be his first potential outing after the shoulder injury. He picked up the injury recently while playing for Lancashire County thus missing the India vs Zimbabwe ODI series as well.

Rotating to the slow left arm, Shams Mulani could also earn his first India A cap while Rajat Patidar could feature in the squad.
With the kind of players expected for India, it’s obvious that BCCI takes this series seriously. In fact, too, New Zealand have announced a strong squad, which will be led by Tom Bruce. They also have many international players in their squad.
