Stockton firefighters thank San Francisco Giants for honoring captain Max Fortuna

STOCKTON, Calif. (KTXL) — Stockton Fire Department Local 456 thanked the San Francisco Giants on Friday for helping them remember and honor former Stockton Fire Department Captain Vidal “Max.” Fortuna, who was killed in the line of duty on January 31. .

“While doing the job he loved so passionately, Captain Fortuna gave his life in the line of duty,” Local 456 wrote in a social media post. “Max was an incredible fire captain, a devoted husband, a loving father and a godly man of faith. He will forever be remembered as a born leader who was always willing to share his time, knowledge and passion for the fire department.

More than 450 people, in Fortuna’s honor, attended the July 14 Giants home game at Oracle Park as it was the organization’s annual firefighter appreciation night, according to the local. 456.

Local 456 said Fortuna was an avid Giants fan and the front office of professional baseball teams helped the large group secure seats, attend game events and Becky Fortuna, wife of Max Fortuna for 25 years throwing the first pitch of the game.

“The San Francisco Giants touched Max’s life, they touched our lives for this night in Max’s honor, and they will forever be in our hearts for the exceptional care they showed us,” wrote Local 456.
