GAMEWEEK 37 DEADLINE FOR CHANGES: May 15, 10:30am (BST)

Team News

With Liverpool and Chelsea contesting the FA Cup final on May 14, it’s hard to predict what form both teams will be in for their Premier League fixtures in Gameweek 37, ahead of Sunday’s deadline.

In effect, Mohamed Salah (£13.3m)who only made the bench for the Reds’ 2-1 win over Aston Villa, has been shipped off by many FPL bosses who understandably don’t like the uncertainty around his starting location, with Kevin De Bruyne (£12m) proving a popular – and cheaper – replacement.

Manchester City’s main injury problem, meanwhile, concerns Aymeric Laporte (£6m). Pep Guardiola says the centre-back will try to train on Saturday, although his availability for the West Ham encounter is in doubt.

Both Sergio Reguilon (£5m) and Cristian Romero (£4.8m) are both unavailable for Tottenham’s game against Burnley, while the Newcastle winger Joe Willock (£5.4m) is absent from the last two matches of the 2021-22 campaign.

Many FPL managers will be keeping tabs on Aston Villa squad news up until the changes deadline, with Ollie Watkins (£7.5m) – who hasn’t trained all week – considered doubtful for the first of Steven Gerrard’s side’s matchweek doubles.

Jacob Ramsey (£4.7m) is however available for selection again after missing the last two games through injury.

As for Arsenal, who will face Newcastle on May 16, it is unclear whether Gabriel Magalhaes (£5.4m) will be fit enough to feature, with the Brazilian due to be substituted late in the 3-0 loss to Tottenham due to a muscle problem.

Who is the best captain choice for Gameweek 37?

Those who ordered De Bruyne (£12m) last week he was in dreamland as he delivered 30 points in Manchester City’s matchweek doubles.

With the uncertainty surrounding Salah (£13.3m) place in the starting XI – in the Premier League at least – it’s too risky to give the armband to the Premier League’s top scorer.

We therefore think Richarlison (£7.6m) stands out as the ideal selection, with a revitalized Everton having two home games against Brentford and Crystal Palace respectively.

Three differential picks for Gameweek 37

Vitali Mykolenko (Everton) – Defender – £4.9m

The Everton left-back has proven to be a reliable attacking weapon for Frank Lampard’s side during their recent resurgence and has averaged just under seven points per game in his last three appearances .

Wilfried Zaha (Crystal Palace) – Midfielder – £6.9m

Zaha is the second most transferred player ahead of Gameweek 37 and with matches against Aston Villa (A) and Everton (A) he could deliver a solid points gain, with the Crystal Palace winger also on penalties.

Luis Diaz (Liverpool) – Midfielder – £8m

Luis Diaz’s remarkable form for Liverpool brought him into Jurgen Klopp’s starting XI, even ahead of Salah. If he emerges from the FA Cup final unscathed, he is set to start against Southampton on May 17, where he will look to build on the 15 points he provided in Gameweek 36.
