Templemore
Appreciation of vice-captain Declan Kennedy
I want to thank club captain Jim Ryan for making me vice-captain.
It is a great honor to be asked to run your golf club and I gladly accepted. I will try to continue the excellent work provided by Jim and all the former captains.

I also want to thank my wife Brenda for all the support and encouragement she gives me in every decision I make.
Next year will be a tough year for me, but I know I have great people around me who can guide me and help me fulfill my roles and duties. Currently we have a wonderful dedicated committee working tirelessly behind the scenes planning and organizing everything for the benefit of the Club and its members.

We are now entering a new phase of Templemore Golf. The Club now has its own autonomy which will allow us to plan for the future with more certainty. The advantage of gaining our own autonomy creates challenges and new responsibilities, but I am sure that with the people involved in this golf club, they will be accomplished.

Before I start thanking people, I would first like to mention the members who passed away recently, Joe O’Connor and PJ Leahy come to mind.

They gave the club great memories, and we miss them a lot and especially this week. I want to thank Dinny Maher for all his long hours and efforts to get the course back in top condition for this weekend. Also, Tom McGrath, Michael Webster and Liam Leahy.

The Competition Committee, Sean Lee, Les Mason, Declan Russell and Mick Keely who worked tirelessly and made sure everything ran smoothly over the weekend, you guys made it super easy for me, thank you.

This weekend would not have been a success only for the effort that all the members gave playing in such exceptionally hot conditions (+30), a very big thank you to all for taking part in the competition.

Congratulations to all of the Vice Captains winners, especially winner Ned Delaney, a young golfer to watch!! Ned had a magnificent score of 77 gross and 64 net, narrowly surpassing three seasoned players who had 65 net. All in all it was a very enjoyable weekend, and once again I want to thank everyone who helped make this a great weekend of golf. Sincerely, Declan Kennedy
