United Utilities, the North West water company, has recruited Warrington Wolves women’s rugby captain Michelle Davis to help publicize its apprenticeship scheme.
Michelle, who is breaking gender stereotypes and is training as a firefighter, recently visited the United Utilities headquarters in Warrington. During her visit, Michelle met with current apprentices Jessica, a scientist, and Ethan, a credit controller, to see what their daily lives were like in action.
Currently, 115 new apprenticeships are open for applications at United Utilities – which closes this Sunday.
These apprenticeships will give candidates the chance to earn nationally recognized qualifications, including degrees, while working alongside and learning from the best in the business.
Apprentices could find themselves working on big, exciting projects within the engineering team, on a processing plant, cooking up a storm in its state-of-the-art labs, working at Lingley Mere’s head office in Warrington or even on the repair of network leaks.
There are also a variety of benefits that come with the award-winning United Utilities Learning Program, including private healthcare, discounted gym membership, up to 10 driving lessons – and more! The apprenticeship program starts at a salary of £15,000 – with an increase after the first year.
The majority of the new cohort will join in September 2022, but the company is seeking candidates for customer service and credit controller apprentices over the coming weeks.
