ST. GEORGE- The International Association of Campus Law Enforcement Administrators recently awarded Utah Tech University International Accreditation and honored UT Police Captain Ron Bridge with the award of administrative excellence.

Held by only 7% of universities nationwide, the association’s accreditation indicates that the Utah Tech Police Department meets high standards in its policing policies and procedures, according to a Utah Tech press release.

Obtaining accreditation was a two-year process that involved assessors coming to campus to assess the department and university and the IACLEA Board of Trustees voting unanimously to grant accreditation to the UT.

“The Utah Tech Police Department is honored to receive IACLEA accreditation after years of providing proof of proficiency in daily police operations,” Bridge said in the press release. “The IACLEA accreditation ensures that the Utah Tech Police Department is a leading law enforcement university provider that focuses on professionalism, adherence to policies and procedures, and accountability.”

With specific regard to the leadership of the department, the press release indicates that Bridge has demonstrated outstanding service in policy and planning, investigation and crime prevention to win the award for administrative excellence.

His dedication to implementing innovative ideas also helped earn him the award.

Prior to UT receiving these awards, Vice President of Administrative Affairs Paul Morris received the 2020-21 IACLEA Award for Innovations in Community-Oriented Policing last year, adding that the ‘UT has won three awards in total from the leading authority on campus public safety, the news release said.
