A woman on TikTok toasted her date for her Captain America wallet, sparking a debate among her viewers.
The woman, known as Sammie (@fgt.sam) on TikTok, shared a viral video last week showing the man’s red, white and blue wallet. It received over 135,000 views.
“Guys, I’m on a date, and this is what it comes out when the tab comes,” Sammie wrote in the video’s onscreen caption. Afterwards, she asked her date to show her the wallet, which was designed to look like Marvel character Captain America’s shield. She laughed.
In a comment on her first video, Sammie revealed that the person she was dating was actually her boyfriend. As to whether it’s okay for someone over the age of 14 to have a Marvel wallet? Most users supported the cartoon-themed wallet in the comments.
(In other TikToks, Sammie pretends to be in college, which makes the couple likely 18+.)
Viewers had mixed reactions to Sammie’s criticism of her date. Some said the date’s Captain America wallet was a “green flag.”
“That’s a big green flag,” a viewer commented on the first video.
“If his portfolio is superhero or anime themed, that’s him,” another viewer commented.
Some viewers said that Sammie shouldn’t complain about his date’s wallet if he’s the one paying.
“What’s wrong with that? The only thing I see wrong is you not splitting that bill,” one TikToker said.
“You’re laughing at him when he’s probably the one paying smh,” another TikToker wrote.
Someone else said, “Okay, you pay then.”
The gag garnered enough engagement that she shared a second TikTok roasting it, probably also in jest.
“I went on a second date and you look at what he released this time,” Sammie said.
Next, she showed a torn Lactaid caplet paper, which her date likely used. Lactaid is an enzyme supplement used to help people who have difficulty digesting milk and other dairy products, commonly known as lactose intolerant.
As for the Lactaid pill, viewers told Sammie to “chill out” and let her date enjoy her dairy.
“Relax, we’re getting old, our bodies aren’t what they used to be,” one viewer wrote.
“Bruh let the man eat lol,” said one user.
