From Falcon to Captain America

The Winter Soldierthe second installment of Captain America saga, premiered in 2014 and is considered by many fans and critics to be one of the best entries in the franchise. The story sees Steve Rogers (Chris Evans) and Natasha Romanov (Scarlett Johansson) discover SHIELD’s infiltration by HYDRA and fight to prevent the authoritarian organization from achieving absolute power. It also serves as the MCU introduction for Mackie’s character, Sam Wilson.

Throughout much of the MCU, Sam operated under the superhero codename Falcon, but by the end of Endgame of Avenger, Steve passed the iconic shield on to Sam, signaling his retirement and the start of a new era. The Disney+ series Falcon and the Winter Soldier depicts Sam’s journey from resistance to acceptance in terms of his new role. The series also explores the complicated history of Captain America’s mantle.
