After Avengers: Endgame fade to black with Steve Rogers and Peggy Carter dancing in each other’s arms, we assumed we’d seen the last of Cap and his SHIELD founding wife in the MCU. Well, turns out we were half right. While Captain America disappeared (possibly on the moon), Peggy enjoyed a whole new life in the franchise as Captain Carter. The super-powered variant debuted in What Whether…? before going live-action in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.
But how does Chris Evans feel about Hayley Atwell going on without him and donning the star-studded supersuit in his place? While speaking to MTV News, Evans was asked his thoughts on Atwell’s new role and later said how highly he rated the British star as an actress, stressing that she was ‘perfect’ to continue Cap’s legacy on her own. As he explained:
“Yeah that’s right. No, I haven’t seen it yet, but I’ve heard it. I mean, she’s perfect for it. I mean, who, she really is one of the best actresses I’ve ever worked with and one of the sweetest humans, so I couldn’t be happier for her.
Given that Evans was obviously going to be very supportive of his long-term co-star and his Marvel wife, the most shocking part of Captain Carter’s comments to Evans has to be his admission that he hasn’t seen yet. . Multiverse of Madness. This comes as another reminder that the Knives out star has really put all things MCU in his rear view mirror, even though It’s missing dress in red, white and blue himself.
Still, it’s fair enough that he didn’t have time to catch Doctor Strange 2 in theaters, as the passing of his vibranium shield only made Evans’ schedule fuller, not thinner. In addition to voicing Buzz in Light yearEvans also co-directs Netflix’s upcoming spy thriller The gray manfrom former Marvel directors the Russos and re-teaming with Ana de Armas for the Apple TV Plus actor Phantom.
As for Atwell, although Peggy from Earth-838 meets a disastrous fate, she will likely be back as the animated Captain Carter in the second season of What if…?. Doctor Srange in the Multiverse of Madness begins streaming on Disney Plus from June 22.
