David Warner finally spoke on Friday about his controversial sacking as skipper of Sunrisers Hyderabad.
Warner made a forgettable outing in the 14th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL 2021).
Following his poor performance in the opening matches, New Zealander Kane Williamson replaced him as SRH skipper.
To make matters worse, Warner was left on the side.
Here is more.
- Warner has been the star performer of SRH for some time.
- He’s been their top scorer in every season he’s played, except 2021.
- He guided them to their first IPL title in 2016.
- And, for all his exploits, he was not supported by SRH management.
- Warner was called up to Hyderabad’s squad in the IPL second leg but was dropped after two games.
Here’s what Warner said about it
Speaking about his exclusion after being sacked, Warner said it sent the wrong message to young people.
“If you give up a captain and don’t pick him into the team after what he’s done, what message does that send to the youngsters on the team? said an emotional Warner during his conversation with Boria Majumdar.
I won’t bite, said Warner
“At the end of the day, whatever happens, do it on the chin. If you want to have these conversations, just have them. It’s not difficult. Don’t turn away from it. I’m not going to bite. I’m going to sit here and accept this for what it is because you don’t pick me on the team, ”Warner added.
Warner’s performance for SSR
