Captain America’s shield is an incredibly powerful tool due to its defensive abilities, but a single gun can circumvent its greatest weakness.
The most OP pistol of Marvel Comics is so strong that not even Captain Americahis shield can protect him from it. There are a plethora of powerful weapons in the world of Marvel. Tools like Mjölnir, the Infinity Guantlet, and even Iron Man’s own armor have abilities that can cause a great amount of destruction depending on how they’re used. In fact, there have even been some so destructive that they could be used to kill some of the most powerful beings in the Marvel Universe, the Celestials. However, no matter how powerful the weapon, there is a hero who can repel these attacks.
Captain America is best known for carrying around his shield to fight off bad guys. However, Marvel fans know it’s more than just a prop. The shield is made of vibranium, which is an incredibly powerful metal. He can withstand vibrations of immense wavelengths to protect Cap and defend him against many attacks that would otherwise kill him. He even proved just how strong he really is in the recent Judgment Day crossover event when he faced the Celestial Progenitor head-on. It looks like Cap’s shield is enough to help him withstand any threat, but there’s one gun that might turn out to be his shield’s biggest weakness.
In Wolverine Vol. 4 #9 by Jason Aaron and Daniel Acuña, an assassin named Lord Deathstrike uses a gun to take out his target in their secluded mansion. The problem? He manages to kill them from a great distance in Argentina by shooting the bullet into the ground. When it emerges on the other side of the world, it shoots through the target’s chest, killing them. This means that this gun has great force to cross the Earth and back, which makes it more powerful than Hulk’s kill gun. Not only does this give Lord Deathstrike the element of surprise, but it also allows him to kill his targets in such a way that it’s nearly impossible to predict when this will happen. Since Captain America must be prepared for his attackers to use his shield and defend the parts of him that are exposed, a bullet from this weapon could reach and kill him before he can even defend himself in time.
Lord Deathstrike’s weapon is powerful but requires a lot of planning
The only downside to this gun is that it requires a lot of planning and precision to ensure that the bullet not only comes out in the right place but also at the right time. One small miscalculation and he could miss the target, ruining the element of surprise. However, that might not be too much of a problem for Lord Deathstrike. Since Steve Rogers is very open about himself as Captain America, he’s very transparent about where he is. Whether it’s the Avengers Mansion or other places he frequents, the assassin could easily follow his path and plan the perfect moment to strike. This makes it even harder for Steve to defend himself since he’s not carrying his shield all the time. So whether he has his shield or not, he could very well meet an unexpected and unfortunate fate.
Fans have pointed out that Captain America’s biggest weakness is that he’s vulnerable in areas of his body that aren’t protected by his shield. A quick kick to the legs, and he could easily fall. Lord Deathstrike’s piercing gun takes full advantage of his weakness, and he could easily use it to take out the Avengers’ greatest leader. It’s an incredibly OP weapon in the world of Marvel Comicsand if Captain America does not find out, he can know his death.
