KARACHI: Former captain Javed Miandad has been honored with a commemorative cap and plaque by Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chief Executive Faisal Hasnain upon his official entry into the PCB Hall of Fame.
Javed Miandad said, “I feel humbled and honored to have been inducted into the PCB Hall of Fame. It is appropriate that these inductions take place when an international cricketer is at the helm of cricket affairs in Pakistan because he understands better than anyone the hard work and sacrifices a cricketer makes to reach the top pedestal .
“Every time I stepped onto the playing field, I wanted to contribute to my team and my country through my performances. To do this, I developed my own training and preparation plans using innovative methods by visualizing the oppositions and conditions I would encounter. I am delighted that my efforts produced good results and I was able to serve my team and my country with performances that made us a proud cricketing nation.
“One thing I did very successfully throughout my career was to quickly forget my previous performances and focus on the next challenge. next and tried to improve, but I didn’t dwell on what I had achieved in previous games.
“I have been blessed to have always had excellent and outstanding contemporaries who have supported and encouraged me and I would like to especially thank the people of Pakistan for their overwhelming support and love till date. always been my inspiration and motivation in the pursuit of excellence.

“Every time Javed Miandad struck, nothing seemed impossible. For his never say die approach, Miandad left an everlasting impression on his fans and opponents who respect, admire and thank him for the way he built his career and performed with dignity, pride and consistent performance.
Miandad, 64, was the beating heart of Pakistani cricket from 1975 to 1996, with 16,213 international runs and 31 centuries in 357 appearances. Miandad scored 28,663 runs at an average of over 53 in 402 first-class games from 1973-74 to 1993-94, with 80 centuries and 139 half-centuries.
Miandad, who was 18 at the time of the 1975 World Cup, appeared at five other World Cups, winning the 1992 event in Australia under Imran Khan. Miandad has scored 1,083 points at an average of over 43 in 33 World Cup games.
In the first Test against New Zealand in Lahore in 1976, Miandad hit a century (163) and then the first of his six double centuries (206) in the third Test in Karachi. Miandad hit 145 in his 100th Test at Lahore in 1989, becoming only the second batsman (after Gordon Greenidge) to record hundreds on his debut and in his 100th Test.
Miandad amassed over 1,000 Tests against Australia (1,797 in 25 Tests), England (1,329 in 22 Tests), India (2,228 in 28 Tests) and New Zealand (1,919 in 18 Tests), plus over 1,000 ODI runs against Australia (1,019 in 35 matches), India (1,175 in 35 matches), Sri Lanka (1,141 in 35 matches) and West Indies (1,141 in 35 matches ) (1930 in 64 matches).
