Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) fast bowler Umran Malik has recalled his memorable conversation with Virat Kohli. Malik, who was held up by SRH ahead of the IPL 2022 auction for INR 4 crore, told India.com that Kohli assured him that he would get an international cap in the future in the latest IPL edition.
Sunrisers Hyderabaddirected by Kane Williamsonchose to trust 22-year-old Indian speedster Umran Malik after pacer breakout season in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021. Umran has been retained by the Hyderabad-based franchise for INR 4 crore and will be looking to continue his pace in the next edition of the tournament which is set to start on March 26.
Recently, while talking to India.com ahead of the new season, Umran recalled his special interaction with the former Bangalore Royal Challengers (RCB) captain Virat Kohli it happened last year.
“Virat Kohli spoke to me and told me to work on my bowling and improve my fitness. He told me to work hard and once I do that the Indian cap is not too far. He said I will get my chance when the time comes,” Umran said as quoted by India.com.
Umran, who has already become India’s net thrower, had not played with a cricket ball until he was 17 years old. Camp SRH just INR 20 lakh.
Umran also spoke about the representation of SRH, the champions of the 2016 season, in the IPL. Franchise named Williamson as new full-time captain in 2021 and parted ways with former skipper David Warner. Abdul Samad was their other retention ahead of the new season.
“My time at Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) changed my life in a way. I was in SRH team and then I started playing for them at IPL. acknowledge, and my hard work, credit to the IPL and SRH. I did not expect SRH to hold me back, but I am grateful to the franchise for having faith in me,” Umran concluded.
SRH will begin their IPL 2022 campaign when they face Rajasthani Royals on March 29 at the Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium, Pune.
