On July 11, 2022, before a crowd of family, friends and fellow officers, Brian W. Lynch was sworn in as the new captain of the Snoqualmie Police Department.
It was evident from the throngs of spectators at the Monday evening town council meeting that Captain Lynch is highly respected and loved in the Snoqualmie Valley community.
When a local viewer was asked why she came to see Lynch sworn in as captain, she told the story of a heartbreaking night she and her family experienced after a house fire in 2020.
She says, “Brian finished a shift and was coming home when he smelled smoke from our fire. They live around the corner, and he parked his car and walked over to see if it was us. He and his wife (Tina) welcomed us, fed our kids, watched our dog for four days while we were at a hotel, started a GoFundMe, and helped furnish and prepare our rental for us Brian, Tina and Tina’s parents are lovely, kind and caring people.
Cpt. Lynch comes to Snoqualmie from the Black Diamond Police Department, where he served as a sergeant. He brings 21 years of law enforcement experience with the Enumclaw and Black Diamond police departments.
When asked why he chose to come to the Snoqualmie Police Department, Cpt. Lynch replied “I really had no intention of leaving the Black Diamond Police Department. I loved the agency and the community, so I never imagined a scenario where I would leave. At the end of last year , I was approached by several Snoqualmie officers who told me about a captain position opening up in their department.At first I was hesitant about the idea, but the more I thought about it, the more I I could deny the allure of working and serving the community my friends and family live in. After talking with my wife about a possible move to the Snoqualmie Police Department, I decided it was the right thing to do. do for me. I wanted to help make the Valley a safer place for my children. It is truly an honor and a privilege to be named Captain of the Snoqualmie Police Department.
Prior to beginning his career in law enforcement, Cpt. Lynch worked in the field of emergency medical services.
During his tenure at Black Diamond, Cpt. Lynch also served as commander of the Coalition of Small Police Agencies Major Crimes Task Force – to which the Snoqualmie Police Department belongs – overseeing 17 detectives.
“Brian has a servant’s heart” said SPD leader Perry Phipps. “He has a career of doing more than just writing tickets, which epitomizes our police department where we strive to help our community be better.”
Cpt. Lynch has a strong community service ethic, which has earned him honors twice as Officer of the Year, once as Civilian Officer of the Year, and once as DUI Officer. of the year.
He has established successful fundraisers to support residents in need and community programs, including Black Diamond’s Chef of the day program.
