According to the NFL Network James Palmer, Indianapolis Colts veteran quarterback (and team captain) matt ryan had ‘difficult conversations’ with some teammates earlier this week – looking to start a fire ahead of a tough Week 3 game against the Kansas City Chiefs:
As head of the #foals Matt Ryan had tough conversations with players this week, I’m told. Ryan admitted he had to kick a few guys in the ass. His leadership was important this week as well as that of a few others. We’ll see if Indy can get on the right track

The 37-year-old former NFL MVP was acquired last offseason after team owner Jim Irsay spoke of a lack of leadership and consistency over the starting quarterback position , after Indianapolis’ shocking collapse late in the season.
So far, that has yet to translate to winning results, as the Colts have fallen to 0-1-1 after back-to-back division games in which Indianapolis entered the week as a favorite.
Led by superstar quarterback Patrick Mahomes and the always much appreciated Andy Reid As a head coach, the Chiefs (2-0) feature one of the most prolific offenses in the league and are currently one of the best consensus teams in the NFL.
That being said, Indianapolis will be hoping they can pull off the upset like they did in Week 5 of 2019 on the road, but this time at home and revitalize their season, after a disappointing start.
We’ll have to see if Ryan’s chosen words earlier this week pay off for the Colts’ thwarted offer in this afternoon’s game.
