Look, far be it from me to give anyone hope, but things appear to be progressing well in Tottenham Hotspur’s pursuit of Juventus attacking midfielder Dejan Kulusevski. Fabrizio Romano and Alfredo Pedulla now report that negotiations are still ongoing but are in their ‘final stage’ with the deal expected to be, initially, a loan deal.
The hang-up appears to be the buy part at the end of the loan – Tottenham want it to be an option to buy, and Juventus want it to be an obligation to buy.
Agreement with Dejan Kulusevski. Tottenham are offering a loan with an option to buy, which could become mandatory under certain conditions during a 6-month loan – around 30 million euros. ⚪️ #THFC
Juventus haven’t agreed yet as they demand a 100% mandatory clause – around €40m. Talks. @SkySport

Meanwhile, Pedulla suggests that if Juve firmly stick with the idea of the loan obligation, the price is likely to be €30m plus a small loan fee, which seems perfectly fine and reasonable for a player like Kulusevsky.
To me, that doesn’t seem like something that’s likely to stop a transfer from going through. Most likely, Spurs will haggle a bit on the actual price, maybe make the buy obligation trigger a bit easier, something like that. Or maybe they’ll just take the obligation and pay it. I’m not worried. Everything seems to be going wonderfully, and it looks like the Sweden international could be the first player to join Tottenham in the Antonio Conte era.
Of course, that’s what you usually say just before the ground gives way, isn’t it? We will continue to follow this.
