Tottenham Hotspur have long been linked with a move to sign Inter Milan defender Milan Skriniar, but the Italian giants have now made him a solid offer to secure his services.

That’s according to transfer guru Fabrizio Romano, who has revealed the latest on the future of the talented Slovak defender, who has been labeled a ‘monumental’ player.

Inter Milan tell Tottenham target Milan Skriniar he’ll make him captain if he stays

Skriniar was heavily linked with a move away from Inter Milan during the summer transfer window.

The 27-year-old had entered the final year of his contract, and both Tottenham Hotspur (according to Ben Jacobs on The Last Word On Spurs podcast) and Paris Saint-Germain were reportedly interested in signing him.

PSG reportedly even promised Kylian Mbappe to sign Skriniar (GFFN) but Inter finally managed to secure his services which is a huge advantage.

Now the Italian giants want to tie the Slovak down to a long-term deal at the San Siro, and they’re ready to make him their main man for years to come.

Roman revealed yesterday that Inter are so keen on tying Skriniar to a new contract that they have offered to make him captain of the club if he agrees to stay with them beyond the end of this season.

The Nerazzurri are said to be confident of the ability to keep the defender.

TBR view:

Skriniar really would have been a fantastic option for Tottenham this summer.

Spurs already have Eric Dier and Cristian Romero at the back, while Antonio Conte has preferred a left-footed position at left centre-half. Although Skriniar doesn’t quite tick that box, he would have improved Spurs considerably.

The Slovak can play anywhere on the back three. He’s strong on the ground, excellent in the air and, more importantly, he knows Conte’s system very well having thrived under him at Inter a few years ago.

Unfortunately for Spurs, that train seems to have passed, but football is a fun game, and if Conte really pushes it again, there’s a slim chance he could convince Skriniar to move to Tottenham next year.
