Steve Rogers (Chris Evans) is no longer Captain America in the MCU, with Anthony Mackie’s Sam Wilson taking over for The Falcon and the Winter Soldier TV shows. We will see the new Cape again in Captain America 4 in the not too distant future, but we don’t know if Sebastian Stan will be there as well.
While it makes sense for Bucky to continue fighting alongside Sam, that’s not enough to confirm that Stan will appear in the next film. And the actor won’t reveal any secrets either. On the contrary, he is ready to troll the fans, and Mackie, instead. Warning, some Falcon spoilers could follow below.
what will be Captain America 4 wear on?
Captain America 4 feels like the natural continuation of Falcon. Sam accepts the role of Captain America, despite the resistance he is about to meet. And we have Bucky supporting him throughout.
Corn Falcon isn’t just a story about Sam getting that Captain America uniform. It’s also about Sebastian Stan’s character moving past his villainous past. At the end of Falcon, the Winter Soldier is not only an acknowledged avenger. He also begins to heal in a way that was not possible until now.
Not to mention the next post-credits “scene”. We went beyond the stories of Falcon and the Winter Soldier. We’re in “Captain America and the Winter Soldier” territory, which implies that the two characters will continue to appear together in other MCU adventures.
That’s not to say the Winter Soldier has to continue being a sidekick to a different version of Cap. But the two characters have forged a stronger bond than before. And we all remember where it all started in Civil war.
Not to mention that the Winter Soldier was actually one of the main proponents of Steve’s desire for Sam to take on the mantle of Cap. Now that it’s finally happened, he should continue working with Sam. Not that he has that many friends.
With all that in mind, we have no idea what will happen in the next Cap movie. Or how the story connects to the rest of the events of Phase 4. We’ll also have to remember the Marvel way. The studio has yet to announce Captain America 4 to throw. And Sebastian Stan says nothing about the case.
Sebastian Stan on Captain America 4 role
It’s not like the actor isn’t busy enough without the MCU getting in the way. His comments about Bucky’s presence Captain Marvel came during an interview about Stan’s latest project. He played Tommy Lee in Hulu’s Pam and Tommy.
The inevitable question about his future as Bucky in Captain America 4 came at the end of the short interview you will see at the end of this post. That’s where Sebastian Stan’s skills of denial, which he no doubt picked up while working on MCU projects, came into play.
“I don’t know, I really don’t know [if Bucky will return]“, said the actor before turning to the tail of his Falcon co-starred. “I really hope Anthony Mackie doesn’t have a say. Because if he has a say, I’m not in ‘Captain America 4.’
All kidding aside, we remind you that Marvel has four mystery movie dates scheduled for 2024 and an untitled fifth project for 2023. We know that Marvel is already working on several movies that have yet to be fully announced, including Blade, The Fantastic Fourand Dead Pool 3.
could Captain America 4 release at the end of 2024? That’s the kind of question Marvel isn’t ready to answer. And we wouldn’t expect Anthony Mackie or Sebastian Stan to say anything about the movie’s release date either.
